SHE'LL BE BACK!!!!

Deb, my right hand and cohort in crime, left last week and will be gone for 2 months.  Deb's multiple chemical sensitivities become a serious problem in winter because, living in the Mid West, we have to close up our houses and turn on our furnaces. Deb's going to try living in Mexico and see how she feels. We both hope the sunshine and warm temperatures will improve health.

I think I'm being very mature about Deb being gone, especially because it will be quite a change for me. Besides bouncing ideas off each other and sharing the work load, I'll miss the personal assistance Deb provides, like helping me change my position in my Amigo scooter, making my lunch, and helping me get comfortable in bed when I need to put my feet up.

Thankfully, each day so far, I've been able to arrange for friends and neighbors stop by to help me with the personal assistance I need.

Because Deb has been an employee at Meeting Life's Challenges for nearly 10 years, I'm used to her being here.  I miss her presence and the camaraderie of working together. Even though Deb will try to use the Internet to work remotely, the bulk of the workload and day-to-day operations will rest on me while she's gone.

When the realities of Deb being gone for several more weeks and the fact that everyday requires a "new game plan" threaten to overwhelm me, I just remind myself to keep breathingDo one thing.  Stop.  Relax.  Breathe.  Do one more thing and repeat this throughout the day. And, before you know it, SHE'LL BE BACK!!!!

How do you handle changes in your routine and/or schedule when your helpers/aides are gone or are not available?
